Update

I haven't written here in a while. As part of my follow up plan I have taught my students a mini unit on Japan. They have participated in the art class. We made greeting cats, origami and practiced writing kanji. The kids have really enjoyed this. I have also presented at the school to our 7th graders as they finished up their unit on Japan.
